Single-tree grain matching
Rail, racetrack and legs are cut from one flitch so the figure runs continuously around the table. A supplier cannot do this — they never see the whole board.
Omica Poker Club is a workshop and a members' club in one. We design and build poker tables from exclusive hardwoods — claro walnut, ziricote, macassar ebony — and press our own clay chip sets to match every commission. Each table leaves the bench balanced, silent and ready for a full tournament night, with a playing surface tuned for card slide and dealer comfort.
Tell us about the room you are furnishing and one of our craft advisors will write back by email within one business day with drawings, timber options and a build schedule.
Omica began in a two-bench joinery where a group of card players grew tired of tables that looked impressive and played badly. Fourteen years later we run a dedicated timber store, a chip press and a test room where every commission is played on before it ships. We are makers first — every table is drawn, cut, veneered, felted and finished under one roof, and the same hands that select a board of ziricote also set the final rail stitch.
Most poker tables are assembled from catalogue parts: an imported base, a stock rail, a felt cut to fit. We work the other way round — from the tree and the hand of the player.
Rail, racetrack and legs are cut from one flitch so the figure runs continuously around the table. A supplier cannot do this — they never see the whole board.
Speed cloth is stretched over a two-layer foam bed calibrated for card slide and quiet chip landing — the same specification we use for club-level tournament rooms.
Our clay composite chips are pressed, edge-spotted and hot-stamped in our own shop, so colour, weight and sound are matched to your table instead of ordered from a catalogue.
We survey your space, dealer position and seating throw before drawing. Tables are sized to the room and the number of players who actually sit at it.
A named cabinetmaker owns your commission from the first drawing to the final wax coat, and signs the underside of the frame. You always speak to the person building it.
Refelting, rail re-stitching, re-waxing and chip replenishment stay available for the life of the table. Nothing we build is treated as a closed job.
Whether you need a single centrepiece table or a full club floor, the work is drawn, built and finished by the same team.
Eight-, nine- and ten-seat ovals with a dedicated dealer position, recessed chip trays, armoured cup wells and a padded rail wrapped in full-grain leather. Frames are mortised hardwood rather than flat-pack panels, and every table breaks down for stair access without losing rigidity.
A show-face dining top in figured veneer lifts away to reveal a full speed-cloth playing surface underneath. Designed for living rooms where the game shares space with the family table, with magnet-seated tops that sit flush and store flat.
Pressed composite-clay chips in your club palette, with edge spots, inlay artwork and a hot-stamped denomination-free identity if you prefer a purely decorative marking. Delivered in a matching timber carry case built from the same board as your table.
Refelting, rail rebuilding, veneer repair and complete room fit-outs — dealer chairs, side stations, chip racks, cue-style storage and lighting plans that keep the felt evenly lit and glare-free across every seat.
Every board is sourced from documented, legally harvested stock and air-dried for at least three years before it reaches the bench. Choose a species, and we send you photographs of the actual flitch reserved for your commission.
Deep chocolate heartwood with violet undertones and dramatic figure. Our most requested rail timber.
California · Air-dried 4 yrsSpider-web landscape figure in near-black lines. Used for inlaid racetracks and feature panels.
Central America · Quarter-sawnStriped black-and-amber grain with a glass-smooth polish. Reserved for statement dining-convertible tops.
Indonesia · Certified stockHoney-toned with olive streaks; a lighter option for rooms where the table should not read as dark furniture.
Southern Europe · Crown-cutRose-red heartwood that darkens with age, wide enough for one-piece racetracks on large ovals.
West Africa · Documented originCoarse, near-black grain with a matte hand. Pairs with brass inlay for the most formal club rooms.
Central Africa · Oil-finishedA commission usually runs ten to sixteen weeks. You are shown the timber, the felt and the chip proofs before anything is committed.
We discuss the format you play, how many seats you need and how the room is used. Where possible we measure on site; otherwise we work from your plans and photographs.
You receive scale drawings, a rendered view and photographs of the specific boards reserved for your table, plus felt and leather samples by post.
The frame is mortised and glued, veneers are laid, the rail is wrapped and stitched by hand, and your chip set is pressed and inlaid alongside it.
The finished table is played on in our test room, adjusted, then delivered and assembled in your room by the team that built it.
Four recurring designs that clients adapt to their own rooms. Each can be re-drawn in any species from our timber store.
Claro walnut rail, ziricote racetrack inlay, dealer cut-out and eight armoured cup wells. Our tournament standard.
Olive ash dining face over a hidden speed-cloth bed. Lifts away in two pieces and stores against a wall.
Composite-clay chips with hand-laid edge spots and a printed inlay, cased in timber matched to your table.
Multi-table layouts with dealer stations, chip racks and a lighting plan that keeps every seat glare-free.
"We looked at two tables from importers before we found Omica. The difference is obvious the moment you deal — the cards run true across the whole felt and the rail sits exactly where your forearm wants it after four hours."
"They sent photographs of the actual walnut flitch before cutting, then again after the rail was wrapped. I have never been that involved in a piece of furniture being made, and the grain really does run right around the table."
"The chip set is what sold the room. Same palette as the inlay, right weight, and the sound when they land is exactly what regulars notice. Our Friday game grew from six players to eighteen in a season."
Most tables run ten to sixteen weeks from approved drawings, depending on the species selected and whether a matching chip set is included. Restoration work is usually four to six weeks. We confirm a build schedule in writing before starting.
Yes. Every table is engineered to break into rail, top and base sections that pass through a standard doorway and up a turning staircase, then reassemble to full rigidity on site. Tell us the access route during the survey and it is designed in from the first drawing.
All boards are bought from established merchants with documented, legal harvesting records, and we keep the paperwork for each flitch. Nothing enters the workshop without an origin record, and we will share it with you on request.
Yes — this is our default. Sets can be produced with colour and symbol identities only, with your club mark or a decorative inlay, which suits private clubs and display collections. Marking choices are agreed at the proof stage.
In most cases, yes. Send photographs of the table, the rail and the underside of the frame through the contact form and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth restoring or better rebuilt.
We do. International commissions are crated in-house with climate-stable packing and accompanied by assembly instructions; for larger club fit-outs a member of the workshop travels to install. Mention the destination in your first message so it can be planned properly.
Send us the shape of the space and the way you play. We will come back with drawings, timber photographs and a realistic build schedule — no obligation to continue.
